Just wanted to give an update now we have been running for nearly three weeks.
As you can imagine we have had a lot of phone calls which have mostly come through the leaflets. Some people not needing help at the moment but just wanting to say they are so relieved it is there if they need it.
A big thank you goes to the 15 volunteers who delivered the leaflets so quickly to all our village homes.
91 volunteers have now registered with us and we have been busy collecting all their addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
We have helped 160 residents of North Baddesley. We have collected 125 prescriptions mainly from Boots North Baddesley but also Boots and Superdrug Romsey as well as Asda. Once a week we are collecting food parcels from Romsey Community service and delivering to three families.
We have had 41 requests to help with shopping. The aim is to match up a volunteer with a client and if all goes well they can shop for that person regularly, becoming “shopping buddies!” So not many requests so far, but it is early days. It is good to know that people are generally well supported by friends and family.
So far 39 volunteers have completed tasks, so thank you to those and also to all the others “waiting in the wings!”
Test Valley Borough Council through their community support grant have awarded the group £500. This has been used to purchase 2 phones with contracts, printing of the leaflets and general running costs.
