Pledging its commitment to tackling the effects of climate change, North Baddesley Parish Council has received 105 sapling trees from the Woodlands Trust. Using only torchlight during one of their Monday evening sessions, members of North Baddesley Youth Club, under the guidance of Cllrs Knight and Middlewick, planted the trees into holes prepared by the Council’s groundsman around the perimeter of the recreation ground.  The trees are protected by bio-degradable cylinders.

Available in six different varieties of medium wild harvest, namely crab apple, dog rose, blackthorn, hazel, rowan and elder, the trees are designed to attract birds and wildlife. They will greatly enhance the area, creating a natural boundary around the edge of the recreation ground.

The Parish Council has also purchased picnic furniture following the long-awaited release of developer contributions from Test Valley Borough Council.

Two picnic benches, two seats and a litter bin have been installed near the children’s playground whilst a further picnic bench and litter bin have been sited close to the barbecue.

In the last couple of years, the Parish Council has installed three large noticeboards around the village, one at the recreation ground, one in Fleming Avenue and one at Seymour Parade. Three defibrillators have been purchased with one located at the Recreation Ground, one at All Saints’ Church and one in the phone box in Ringwood Drive. A further one has been ordered for a location yet to be decided.
